you people should be ashamed for putting that on the internet because he lost his life and his family would probably trip out:(

5 Ronald said at 9:19 am on August 21st, 2008:

What do you mean, you people??!?!?
-I’m only one person.

I got this in an email, so ireally don’t know, but my guess is that it’s the same crap they show on Urban Asphalt to freshmen in high school. So I’m guessing they show this stuff for better reasons, like “don’t drive stupid, or end up like this…” – Makes sense….

6 josie keener said at 11:19 am on October 2nd, 2008:

this is smart to show. because when young people see it they realize the dangers of texting and driving at the same time.

7 kevinE said at 12:55 pm on November 11th, 2008:

I am wondering why the medics and firemen had to pull him out in front of everyone at the scene. Couldn’t they have towed the car away and done this in the privacy of a garage? Geez! I agree about the message it sends though.

8 Ronald said at 12:59 pm on November 11th, 2008:

i guess thats how they operate… but they probably put up some sort of road block perhaps

9 Cerissa said at 10:03 am on December 2nd, 2008:

WOW i Had No idea of the dangers of texting while driving that just amazed me that something like that could happen i feel so sorry for the parents of the child

10 Ronald said at 3:16 pm on December 2nd, 2008:

oooh, hehehe, it was a really bad mess, and it wasn’t a child it was a grown man, but i accidentally deleted the pics off my server. for better or for worse? i don’t know. I’m trying to find the back up out of my email, and it seems those two have been deleted by the original host. I’m going to check my machine, and server backup to try and restore them…

11 Ronald said at 3:28 pm on December 2nd, 2008:

If he would’ve been driving a truck he might’ve survived!!!!!!!!! LITTLE CARS ARE UNSAFE!!!!

15 Ronald said at 12:32 pm on June 5th, 2009:

That was some kind of mini van i think… It’s sort of like a truck. I don’t think a truck would have made much more of a difference, because it hit a BIGGER truck.

16 tomecker said at 4:16 pm on June 27th, 2009:

This is a real wake up call 4 me thanks

17 tara said at 11:42 pm on July 13th, 2009:

FYI the family of this victim wanted the pictures shown…the only reason why pictures were taken was for them to id the victims car and face, but the family did want the pics to be shown in safety classes.

18 Richard said at 10:02 am on July 25th, 2009:

Auwfull, but what do we have to do to get the message across, its just as dangerous to be talking on the phone, but i see people every day with a mobile to their ear whilst driving!

19 Tanner said at 10:02 am on July 29th, 2009:

Im 17 years old and this kid hit me in his little chevy s10 his name was jacob. he was texting and he hit my truck head on, all that happened to me was i got glass an n in me and broke my tib. God blessed me with a great life and i realized that day, textins flippin retarded. also that the texas justice systems gay because the state charged me with invoulutary man-slaughter. my lawyer saved my butt i got aquitted but the family still blames me. i would kill for me to have swerved… i was texting too..

20 ben beech said at 11:13 am on August 18th, 2009:

OM F-GOD so im a constant drixter thats drive whom text and i just saw this and im glad i will no longer text while i drive specially cause my car is just as small as that one holly fuk

21 Tammy said at 11:19 am on August 25th, 2009:

How does anyone know he was actually “texting”?

22 keskimaki said at 9:36 am on August 31st, 2009:

I agree that this is too graphic, but texters need a wake up call–they seem to think that it won’t happen to them. They need to realize that other lives are at stake. It wouldn’t matter much what he was driving and if the trucker was anything , but a truck many lives would have been lost instead of just one. Texting while driving kills!!!

23 erin said at 2:25 am on January 2nd, 2010:

not a skid mark on the road. if he wasn’t texting, he was definitely doing something other than looking forward.

this guy inspires me to drive a great big SUV. dumb runs deep in so many people and they take others down with them – laws be damned

24 cesar said at 4:36 pm on February 12th, 2010:

The point is that when your stupid idiot boss is sending u emails all the time he doesnt care about your safety , he cares about his ass.

30 Ronald said at 4:09 pm on March 13th, 2010:

Good point Nick.

31 michael said at 3:00 pm on March 16th, 2010:

i dont now why this person put these pics on here i meen this guy is as sick as HELL! i meen he is disgusting i… i… just dont now what to say about the pics.

32 Buck said at 12:54 pm on March 20th, 2010:

The first image I saw of this I thought it was a body that either came from the WTC or from the planes that flew into it!

I later found out it was from the above series about a wreck caused by texting instead of paying attention to your vehicle’s trajectory. And this collision probably took place under only 100mph, not 500 or 600.

Sad – but a lesson learned the hard way.

33 Jillian said at 9:33 am on March 30th, 2010:

true pple are not only putting their lives in danger but other people’s lives as well and ur rite people sadly have to learn the hard way

34 Spencer said at 1:30 pm on April 6th, 2010:

The third photo in the series shows that the destroyed vehicle was *completely* in the oncoming lane; it was a clear day and there are no skid marks on the road. The driver was obviously NOT paying attention to driving. This kind of distraction can be caused by texting, OR dialing a cell phone, punching an address into GPS navigator, etc. — even lighting a cigarette. If the driver had struck another car head on, he would have taken others with him. These photos, although graphic, unfortunately drive home the message more effectively than words.

35 Shelby Porter said at 11:33 am on April 21st, 2010:

I believe that this is a learning experience ALL drivers should see. Because not only is texting and driving the LEADING cause of roadways deaths, but the death rate is more than when people drink and drive. So I encourage people of all ages to STOP TEXTING WHILE DRIVING and if it is important that you pull over and call the person, it will stop the growth rate of deaths caused by texting while driving.

And you are hearing this from a 9th Grade Student and that should mean a lot coming from me, someone who texts.

37 Marc said at 5:26 pm on August 12th, 2010:

its good that u show pictures of the body, then u can see what could happen while txting while drive, and it shows u that u should not buy smart cars

38 ciara said at 9:40 pm on August 28th, 2010:

39 Dave said at 1:02 pm on October 18th, 2010:

I feel for the truck driver!.. And the dead driver’s fam and friends. It’s too bad the dead driver had to go this way… Live stupid, die stupid! If you dnt post this stuff ppl won’t get it! Happy texting!

40 Regina said at 2:53 pm on October 20th, 2010:

I am 50 years old and my husband is 59. I find myself not composing text but reading them when I am at a light or stop sign. My husband is always trying to read text from our children while he’s driving and I notice that when I am in the car with him he is not aware of where he is on the road, he already has an eyesight problem. I plan on sending these shots to him, maybe he’ll get the point.

41 Ryan said at 10:53 am on October 29th, 2010:

My friends mom showed this to me and thats why i like the comfort of a truck

42 Crystal said at 6:45 am on November 4th, 2010:

I have read all the post and I keep noticing a lot of people mentioning the type of vehicle. Let me make one point very clear. In an accident like this one, it does not matter the type of vehicle you are driving. Hitting a semi at this speed, even a big diesel truck won’t save your life. I have seen many accidents and trust me a big truck would not have kept this man alive. Just remember even if you don’t care about yourself, think of the other people who are affected by this type of accident.

43 Kyle said at 12:43 pm on November 9th, 2010:

I also have a truck and i used these pictures in a speech that i did on the dangers of texting and driving and i think it caught the audiences attention

44 Amy said at 9:09 am on November 10th, 2010:

46 CrazyHorse said at 1:36 am on November 20th, 2010:

In regards to the comment earlier “Why did the medics and firemen have to pull him out there with everyone watching?”

I’m a Firefighter/EMT…There are multiple reasons why we work the way we do….I’ll give you 2….

1. Highway patrol has to conduct their investigation just the way your SBI would investigate a crime scene (murder, arson). Moving anything on scene would compromise their investigation and could possibly land you in court.

2. The fireman and medics don’t just “drag the man out of the car in front of everyone” On any kind of scene such as this, traffic is stopped on that particular highway as far away as possible. Also, a majority of your calls, while the medics are actually bagging the patients remains, they will ask your firemen on scene to hold what they call privacy sheets. Or rig a tarp or whatever around the work area just for the purpose of privacy. The only Non-emergency personnel allowed on scene are family members, if they’re even allowed on scene.

@CrazyHorse well said thanks for the information.

49 Lacy said at 5:38 pm on December 22nd, 2010:

@CrazyHorse I agree with you completely. I\’m also an EMT. I also see where who ever wrote “Why did the medics and firemen have to pull him out there with everyone watching?” is coming from. There are a lot of people there watching. Judging by the vehicles in the pictures though, it looks likes this happen in another country. I don\’t know what there mandates are so I\’m not going to say anything further.
