How to play Lineage 2 for free!

Me and some friends from my math class, are deciding to battle it out in Lineage 2, so I did my research and figured how to setup, and play for free.. and I’m going to show you guys how to play Lineage 2 for free as well!

Lineage 2 is a great game, great graphics and great features. Well that’s my knowledge from playing a sample once, but I have yet to discover the best features of the game until I find time to play. Currently I have it installed and setup to play free, but haven’t had a chance to play… :(

Anyways, heres my quick step tutorial on how to play for free!

As you may already know that to download Lineage 2, all you need is a good internet connection, lol. Because it’s already free, but to play the game you have to pay a monthly subscription through the downloaded client. Well in order to bypass that you need to learn about private servers.

A private server is a server ran by a non official group or business. It’s totally legal too! If a private server has the necessary game files, you can connect to the private server and play without paying the subscription setup on the official servers.

The best private server to play Lineage 2 on is Lineage2Forever. They are a great server, with great uptime and support. (Their website also looks nice!) – www.lineage2forever.com

As I said before you need the client of Lineage 2 in order to play. Which can be downloaded from most Lineage 2 3rd party websites, and mirrors…

So, a few hours later, you’re in possession of a Lineage 2 Chronicle 5: Oath of Blood client. I’d say start unpacking and installing! After you finished the installation, DO NOT run the official Lineage 2 updater (The one from NCSoft), you’ll have to run L2F’s updater in order to be able to connect to our servers which is the next step :)

Now here is the easy part once your download of the C5 is complete. You will now need to download the Lineage2Forever updater in order to connect. This can be downloaded here:

After you’ve finished downloading the updater, install it and go to your Lineage 2 folder (If you installed your Lineage 2 by default, your lineage 2 folder should be located in “C:\Program Files\Lineage 2\” When you’re inside the folder, go into the “system” folder and delete all the files. Then go back into the “Lineage 2″ folder and look for a file called L2ForeverUpdater.exe and run it. Let it run, and when it’s done you can run it again, just to make sure you got all the files.

Now that you have Lineage 2 setup and installed with the L2F Updater to connect to the private server, you will need to register a user account to login to the game with. This will be the easiest part you have done as well as the last part. Just go to the following link to register an account:

Not really. Those private servers are based on a stolen, outdated, incomplete source code. Key part is “incomplete” with admins writing the rest as they see fit. As no one really knows the exact game mechanics, its largely nonsense and most features are not working at all. Private servers and lineage2 have nothing in common but the name..

well i did it in 1 hour…bacause of my 24mbits connection lol…..the greek ftp server is the faster to download the client

Make sure you got a firewall, there is a malware and a adware on that l2fupdater.

ummm, http://www.gamingforever.net/l2foreverupdater.rar does not work…i get a Page Load Error everytime ……is there any other way to get this updater?

I have a question I did what you wrote I installed C5 and I updated via LN2ForeverUpdater but when I try to open the game (Lineage 2 Forever not the official) it shows a black screen with the LN2 mouse on it for some minutes and when the game just closes!!!
Please Help! I have been trying for 3 days to solve this problem with the game!

Okay I solved the problem, I just had to run the uploader in the C5 folder.

Don’t know If i agree this is the best server to play on. There is a project opening soon that has been in the works for a few years and has 100% working like official Epilogue.
