I want to continue working on Killworld till it’s something like Mortal Kombat. By 1.2 I will have original characters and so on, hopefully look into moving this development with PyGame.

You can view the code here:
view the code

and download here:
download the game

a playable compiled version is coming soon.

If you don’t want to edit the code or use the code, and just want to play download the .py script and then download Python 3.1, then run the script as a module from Python’s IDLE. OR you can run the game from the Python terminal.

Recently a lot of people including myself wanted to switch to chrome due to the beautiful interface, yet Firefox is way better with its superb extensions and added functionality. Therefore if you are a person who only likes Chrome for its outside beauty and would want the functionality and heart of Firefox well here is a cosmetic customization article for Firefox.
1. Install Chromifox Firefox theme – This is a Chrome theme for Firefox (the best that is out there), First install this. Uninstall any extensions that change the visual appearance mainly a plugin called Glasser.

2. Install Hide Menubar to hide the Firefox menubar.

3. Install Download Statusbar – Another Firefox-chrome difference is the download status. When you download a file in Firefox browser a window pops out when showing the download status (time remaining, size of file) whereas in Google chrome the download status is seen in the status bar.

Downloading Statusbar Firefox addon will bring the Chrome status bar download feature in your Firefox browser.

4. Install Locationbar2 – Makes the Firefox addressbar fully resemble the Chrome addressbar.

5. Install Stylish (this is a custom styles manager for Firefox, similar to greasemonkey but manages styles instead of scripts)

6. After installing stylish you can even more customize Firefox using the custom styles. Download and use the following custom user styles.

Tab Bar: Want to move the tab bar to the top of the window, as seen in Google Chrome? Yes that’s possible with this experimental hack.

Back/Forward Menu: To access the drop-down menu for the Back and Forward functions, simply right click the Back button or Forward button. If that’s not enough, use this user style.

Extra Modifications: You can make Chromifox your own by adding even more modifications, like smaller or larger text in the location bar and search bar. Also, you can hide the “favicons” or text labels in the Bookmarks Toolbar, prevent tab scrolling by setting a smaller minimum tab width, and get rid of useless menu items. For these and more, use this user style.

Customize Locationbar2: Customize the locationbar extension even more by categorizing the static dynamic and image pages with 3 different colors.

That’s all, and please add your ideas and thoughts, in the comments below.

by Ronald A. Richardson

America and many other countries are faced with an aging population in an advancing world. Many people are concerned with how the elderly be taken care of in their twilight years. Many robots are in development today for the elderly of tomorrow, but one humanoid stands out amongst them all, Asimo. Asimo is the most advanced humanoid to date, primarily because of the advanced applications it has that can be used to assist the elderly and disabled. Through these advanced applications life for the disabled can be improved. For example, today it is a risky challenge for a blind person to cross the street even in suburban areas with all of the cars on the road. It is even more of a challenge for a blind person to cross the street in a urban area such as New York City. Asimo has the ability to recognize moving objects and safely avoid them, this would allow Asimo to guide a blind person across the street safely. Asimo’s applications could also be used to help amputees. Asimo has a brain interface feature that allows the user to control Asimo through their thoughts alone. Picking up objects and moving objects, or even writing is essential to helping a disabled amputee restore their abilities. Asimo is the state of the art humanoid, who has the applications and technological advances to improve the lives of elderly and the disabled.

The ability to learn plays an essential role for helping the elderly and disabled. For Asimo to become household friendly for the elderly, Asimo will have to learn what things in a home are. If an elderly person was to accidentally leave a stove running, Asimo would be able to learn what a stove is and it’s purpose in order to alert the elderly that the stove is still running. In testing Asimo’s ability to learn a user showed Asimo a car, and he was able to recognize what cars were. Next the user showed Asimo a mini cooper, now Asimo is able to find Mini coopers as a type a car among many different cars. This learning capability can be useful even to the blind, allowing Asimo to tell the user what the object is, and also be able to notify the user if it is safe or dangerous. One can find how helpful these features could be to the disabled and elderly.

Robots are rapidly being developed all over the world, it’s a race for the most advanced humanoid, and the question to most developers is, “is how can a humanoid be used in day to day life?” Research done with Asimo shows that a person without arms could find Asimo useful everyday. By using the “Brain Machine Interface” a human is able to control Asimo’s actions through thought alone. This is a type of mind control technology that actually works. It works by the user wearing a headset containing both electroencephalography and near-infrared spectroscopy sensors, the user simply imagines moving either their right hand, left hand, tongue or feet; and Asimo makes a corresponding movement. It may require a headset for now, but just imagine how much easier it would be on a soldier who lost a limb in war. If he was able to move and control a functioning robotic limb through his thoughts alone, for that soldier it means a lot, no complicated surgeries on nerves, or less functioning prosthesis. Honda’s Asimo offers much more simplicity in cybernetic limbs than even surgical nerve controlled cybernetic limbs; furthermore the simplicity of thought controlled robots alone is a good route for the elderly or disabled who are mute, or cannot pronounce words. Yes, Asimo is so simple even someone who cannot speak can control the humanoid.

Asimo has elderly friendly features that will come in handy. Asimo is able to connect to a users home network, and even access the internet for information. Asimo is also able to recognize faces, and remember who someone is. Asimo is also able to recognize voices, postures, gestures, and even multiple voices at once. Most elderly would prefer to live in their own home, rather than live in a depressing nursing home. Asimo is the simple solution to improving the life of the elderly in disabled, versus hospital care, and the boring nursing homes. If one were to be asked if they would like to live out the rest of their elderly days in a nursing home, many would simply refuse to. Online there is a video of an elderly woman reading in chair, Asimo walks up to her with her medicine and a snack he has prepared for her; Asimo then proceeds to remind her that it is 5 o’clock and that it is time for her to take her medicine. She takes the medicine and thanks Asimo. This is the same thing that happens in nursing homes, but elderly have the choice to live the way they want to, where they want to in their lasting years.

Honda recently developed a walking assist device for the elderly in additional to Asimo. Asimo was created the way it was for a number of reasons. It is four foot six in order to help elderly who are in wheelchairs. In fact many would argue that with the potential capabilities of Asimo, such as disarming a bomb. Honda assures that Asimo will never be used in any type of military applications. Asimo is strictly built for assisting around homes for now. Though Honda does seek intentions for Asimo to go to places to dangerous for humans, but only in the name of science. There is even talk of a new module that will allow Asimo to vacuum floor’s in a elderly woman’s home, and even prepare food perfectly by the books. If taking care of the elderly is just not enough, Asimo can also entertain the elderly, and even lend a hand when the grandchildren are over. Asimo composed an live orchestra in Detroit in front of a live audience successfully, without a single error. Imagine an Asimo that could act out scenes from your favorite movies, projecting the exact voices of your favorite characters. Even the small things such as entertainment can make a disabled persons life much better.

Just like ones smart-phone, Asimo can save data, search data, and even charge; but an iphone cant charge itself, while Asimo can. Asimo even has manners, and Honda is continuously improving this humanoid, making it better each year, and more serviceable to the elderly and disabled population. If a disabled person requires more attention than just one humanoid or person, Asimo can even work together in groups. Multiple Asimo’s can be aware of each others presence, and able to communicate in order to complete servant task.

There are about 750 Million disabled people in the entire world, who all need a little help from now and then on. The idea of a population of as many of up to 1 Billion Asimo’s may frighten some people, but how many computers are there being actively used at this very moment someone could ask. The elderly require assistance in this ever-changing technological empire we call earth. This will improve the lives of millions, making them feel better about themselves. Asimo is not a God, or a religious idle, but with Asimo, many disabled or dismembered people can be fully functional. Lifting objects, or even playing an instrument again is important to the disabled people of the world. The skills they could regain through this technology is endless. The elderly will never forget to take their medicine again, and will always have someone to keep them company and entertain them. This may sound creepy to one, but the lonely elderly woman, or the elders in nursing home understand. An Asimo that can do simple task for people who are unable to do these task for various reasons, they will appreciate the research. This advanced humanoid could very well be the worlds solution to the elderly in the future. This humanoid Asimo, can improve the lives for the elderly and disabled by using its advanced applications. With Asimo in effect taking care of the elderly and assisting the disabled, we will find improvement in the care of our loved elderly, and disabled citizens with everyday challenges. Asimo will allow the elderly and disabled to find themselves in a technological world that is much better for them.

Perhaps this can be used as a cars front windshield and used as a GPS that would create an artificial trail on the physical road via the OLED. Something like Star Wars but applied to this world.

It’s almost like the windows used in Iron Man, it’s possible. I can’t wait to see more technology developed int he future.

LED televisions use a new display technology called OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes). Sometimes also called AMOLED TVs, these televisions will be brighter, more efficient, thinner and with better refresh rates and contrast than ‘normal’ LCD or Plasma TVs

OK, I am going to keep this simple, I’ve done my research, and done it myself. I’m going to supply the guides and information you need to successfully flash your drive. It seems a few people who are new to hacking move into it to fast and skip over simple steps and get errors returned. So this mini guide will be as basic as humanly possible.

RESOURCES USED –>

http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/topic/63369-how-to-flash-the-lite-on-dg-16d2s/ (study)

http://www.adploits.com/2009/03/24/flasing-stock-liteon-dg-16d2s-with-ixtreme-151-firmware/ (study)

http://www.ixtreme.net/xbox-360-tutorials/jungleflasher-tutorial-for-ixtreme-t5.html

http://www.ck3.co.uk/xecuter-ck3-lite-ck3-probe-no-solder-addon-bundle.html (you will have to buy this, unless you know how to solder and what not, and if you did you wouldn’t be on THIS tutorial)

REQUIREMENTS –>

A Liteon DG-16D2S dvd drive

Xecutor CK3 Lite

CK3 Probe

DVDKey32 v0.7

Firmtool v1.3

Lite-On-Erase

Dosflash32 v1.6

They say you need a VIA card, but I did mines without one, so i don’t know how much this is true

STEPS –>

Open XBOX360 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joF4n_HT6X0&feature=player_embedded – there are several howto vids on youtube find one that works for you, its pretty easy to do)

Open the side of your computer and locate your motherboard and the first SATA port

What I do is I put my xbox360 inside my computer in a good resting position where my SATA cable could reach my liteon drive just fine. Next connect the SATA cable FROM your computer to the liteondrive.

Now all you have to do is find the port number the drive is connected to, you can do this by following this simple excerpt from se7ensins.com’s guide:

Identifying your Sata Port Info

There are a few ways to do this, Ill cover the simple ones feel free to use your own methods.

Method One: iPrep
Run iPrep 101 v006 and select your Sata Controller in the drop down box. Then, click the ?

You will be presented with something resembling the image below.

Your command base register is the first 4 characters of DeviceIO – In this case CF00

Method Two: Dosflash32

Hook up your LiteOn to your PC power(ed) On

Run Dosflash32.exe

You may or may not see this, this is it failing on my Pioneer DVDRW – 0×1F0 and 0×170 are generally NOT your magic port.

Select No if it returns 0×170/0×1F0 ports.

If all is good, you will receive something similar to the image below, note my port. 0xCF00 – The same magic port iPrep returned

You might as well say No once this is returned as the LiteOn drive is locked, so it won’t respond to the mtk intro query.

OK, now you have your command base register, we need the com port you will be using (usually 1 for Serial Cables, needs to be 1-9 for USB or USB To Serial Adapters)

Right Click “My Computer”

Select properties

Select ‘Hardware’ tab, then, ‘Device Manager’

Scroll Down to ‘Ports COM & LPT’

You will see that I have been assigned Com Port 1

Now you can prepare to dump the data from the LiteOn

At this point, you should have all the system info you need to complete the process.

Now that you have your port number your going to extract the key, which is probably the trickiest part for most. In order to do this read the next lines carefully.
OK for this to be easy you need the CK3 parts. 1. Plug the CK3Lite into your computers rs232 serial port. usually located on the back of your computer 2. plug the liteon dvd drive power cable to your CK3 but make sure the switch is off when you do this 3. Connect the ck3 probe to the r707 located on the liteon dvd drive. 4. have the disc tray opened half way with the drive status closed. 5. When all this is done should look something like this -->

TIME TO RETRIEVE THE KEY!!!!

Important notes:
• Tray Status needs to be closed, but drive half open
• Serial port on LiteOn MUST be in tact (or using a probe/spear)
• You only need R707 joined
• Sata and Serial/USB connected to PC
• Drive powered ON

Obtaining dummy.bin using DVDKEY32 v0.7
DVDKEY32 is run from the command line and requires the command of:
Dvdkey32 SATA PORT COM PORT
In my instance, this is Dvdkey32 CF00 1

Type you DVDKEY32 command in the command prompt as shown below.

Insert probe / spear / homemade version if using one into via above R707 and press Enter

You will be presented with something similar to this, if key is returned as CC CC CC CC CC CC CC CC – CC CC CC CC CC CC CC CC – Then check your serial port / eject status.

That’s it to retrieve the key, in the next small portion I will go over errors.

Errors

If you got something like this, you need to:

Power down the drive between each tries

Check the serial adapter communication

Wrong COM port selected for the serial adapter (DVDKey hardcoded to COM1)

Tx and Rx pin is reversed or misplaced on the transceiver
